Description

This fine and impressive vintage brooch has been crafted in 9 ct yellow gold in the form of a donkey and cart.

The donkey's body is decorated with a textured finish representing its coat and features.

The cart being pulled by the donkey is also crafted in 9ct yellow gold, and ornamented with a multi-gemstone design incorporating four amethysts, two garnets and a peridot .

The brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and safety clasp fastening.

This impressive vintage brooch is accented with an articulated bucket in 9ct white gold, suspended from the back of the cart.

This 1960s brooch is clarly hallmarked to the underside of the cart with the gold fineness mark (9ct) and the maker's mark for Alabaster and Wilson* (A&W), and supplied with an independent diamond grading report card.

"Rather than regarding inclusions in coloured stones as harmful, in small sizes and numbers that do not in any way detract from their beauty, they should be regarded as adding to desirability, for they provide identifying characteristics."

NOTE* Alabaster & Wilson was co-founded in 1887 by Arthur Alabaster and Thomas Wilson in Birmingham. This producer of high quality gold and diamond jewellery remains as one of the longest running family businesses in teh UK today.
