This exceptional antique Austrian sterling silver vesta case has a plain rectangular form with rounded corners.

The anterior surface of the silver and enamel vesta case is ornamented with an impressive enamel panel depicting a semi-naked female portrait adorned with luxurious long brown hair; this is a desirable and collectable portrayal.

The reverse surface and sides of the case are plain and unembellished.

This exceptional antique vesta case is fitted with a ring loop attachment to one side and has a spring hinged cover which incorporates a plain thumbpiece.

The interior of the cover retains the original gilding.

This impressive sterling silver vesta case has an integrated serrated panel/match striker to the underside.

The hallmarks to the rim and interior of the cover include:

Silver quality/purity mark: .925 (sterling, 925/1000)

Importer's mark: S&Co (Steinhart & Co.)

Import mark: Birmingham

This antique vesta case is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

There is a pin head blemish to the reverse surface of the case.

The import hallmarks struck to the rim of case and interior of the cover are all clear in keeping with age and location.
