This exceptional antique Victorian Britannia standard silver porringer and cover has a plain circular rounded form onto a circular spreading foot.

The surface of this antique porringer is embellished with impressive applied cut card leaf decoration to the lower portion.

This porringer retains the original domed push fit hallmarked cover/stand encircled with an applied rope twist decorated border the rim.

The stand is supported by three impressive cast silver volute scrolling feet accented with further cut card decoration to the terminals.

This fine antique silver porringer is fitted with two impressive cast S scroll handles embellished with scrolling terminals, in addition to a plain opposing scroll design to each handpiece.

The foot of this impressive porringer is encircled with further applied rope twist decoration, reflecting that of the stand

This exceptional porringer retains the original gilded interior.

* Britannia Silver - The Britannia silver standard of 958 (95.84% of fine silver), denoted by the icon of the seated Britannia holding an oval shield, was introduced by William III in 1697. This was to indicate the slightly higher standard of silver from sterling silver standard of 925 (92.5% of fine silver).

This antique porringer and cover is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The applied decoration is all very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the porringer and underside of the stand have wear in keeping with age and location; the maker's mark to the porringer is worn and illegible.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.
