Description


This exceptional antique Victorian cut glass and sterling silver mounted claret jug has an oval rounded form.


The upper portion of the glass body is fitted with the original hallmarked sterling silver mount embellished with impressive embossed scrolling leaf ornamentation incorporating putto* designs to either side.


This exceptional antique cut glass claret jug retains the original hallmarked hinged domed cover surmounted with an impressive cast sterling silver lobed finial.


This Victorian claret jug has an exceptional cast opposing scrolling handle accented with floral and leaf designs, in addition to leaf textures to the sides of the handpiece.


The mount incorporates the original cast spout ornamented with a figural mask to the underside.


The body of this exceptional antique claret jug is ornamented with cut glass hobnail decoration, to a plain glass circular spreading foot.

The mount of this antique cut glass claret jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The jug has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The hobnail cut glass body of the jug is in perfect condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the mount and part hallmarks struck to the interior of the cover are very clear; the hallmarks are deeply struck due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
