This exceptional antique Danish sterling silver cream jug has a circular rounded form onto a circular spreading foot, all in the Arts and Crafts style.

The surface of this antique piece has a subtle planished finish.

The upper rim of the jug is encircled with an applied shaped incurved border.

This piece of impressive teaware is fitted with a C shaped handle, with a bifurcating upper portion with ball sockets, in addition to a leaf enveloped lower terminal.

The base of the jug is supported by a band of pierced and applied ornamentation in Jensen's iconic stylised bead and leaf designs.

The hallmarks struck to this cream jug include:

Maker's mark: Georg Jensen (this mark was used between 1925-1932)

Assay mark: Three Tower Mark, 28 (Copenhagen, 1928)

Assay Master Mark: CFH (Christian F. Heise)

Silver quality/purity mark: Sterling, 925 S, .925 (925/1000)

Importer's mark: GS (George Stockwell of George Stockwell & Co Ltd)

Import hallmark: London

Import date mark: m (1927*)

Registration number: 180

* This item will have been crafted and imported in 1928 but due to the British hallmarking system this piece bears the date letter 'm' (1927); this determines the jug was imported between January and April.

This antique jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The applied ornamentation to the jug is all very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the jug are all very clear.
