Diamond and 18ct Yellow Gold Mythological Brooch - Vintage French Circa 1940

Description

This stunning, fine and impressive vintage diamond brooch has been crafted in 18ct yellow gold with an 18ct white gold setting.

The 1940s brooch has been modelled in the form of a mythological creature* grasping in the jaw an 18ct white gold eight-claw set 0.07ct Old European round cut diamond.

The body and head of the creature features details representing the feathers and anatomical features; the wings and tail interlace to the lower portion of the design.

The 18ct yellow gold brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin brooch clasp fastening and clasp.

The pin is hallmarked with the French 18ct gold fineness guarantee mark (eagle's head).

This 1940s diamond brooch in yellow gold is supplied with an independent diamond grading certificate.

NOTE: * This mythological creature bears similar characteristics to a griffin, opinicus or epimacu. The figure is composed with the head of a lion, with the body of an eagle.
