This exceptional antique Dutch silver tea and coffee set consists of a teapot, cream jug, sugar basket and slop bowl.
Each piece has an oval urn shaped form onto an oval pedestal foot.
The body of each piece is plain and unembellished, with an applied reed decorated border to the upper portion.
The teapot is fitted with a hinged cover, accented with a swept subtly concave upper portion encompassed with further applied reed decoration.
The cover is surmounted by an impressive pineapple style silver finial.
The teapot retains the original carved wood C scroll handle ornamented with a plain thumbpiece.
The cream jug is fitted with a C scroll handle and the basket retains the original hallmarked thread decorated swing handle.
The hallmarks struck to the underside of this 19th century silver tea set include:
Maker's mark: ABI (untraced)
Silver quality/purity mark: Lion rampant 1 (.934 minimum, 934/1000)
Duty mark: Minerva head, c (The Hague)
