An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Dutch silver teapot; an addition to our silver teaware collection

This exceptional antique Dutch silver teapot has an oval can shaped form.


The surface of this silver teapot is plain and encompassed with bands of impressive bright cut engraved interlacing and undulating decoration.


The lower portion of the plain swept shoulders and lower rim of the body are encompassed with applied bead decorated borders.


This antique teapot retains the original push fit hallmarked cover accented with further applied bead decoration and surmounted with the original and impressive carved ribbed wood finial.


This exceptional teapot is fitted with a plain carved painted wood C scroll handle with plain Dutch silver sockets.


This fine example of antique silverware has an impressive plain oil can style spout.


The underside of the teapot has a crude finish; this is often the case with silverware of this period crafted for regular use.


The hallmarks struck to the underside and cover of this Dutch silver teapot include:

Maker's mark: AHP (untraced)

National mark: Crowned shield with rampant lion, crowned shield with three Andrew crosses

Tax mark: Crowned V

This antique Dutch teapot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition in keeping with age and type.

There are some natural fire marks to the surface of the teapot in keeping with age.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

The hallmark struck to the underside of the teapot and part hallmarks to the rim of the cover are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example antique teaware.
