This exceptional antique French silver teapot has a circular rounded form.

The surface of the body is plain and unembellished, with an applied ribbed border to the upper rim.

This antique silver teapot is fitted with a hallmarked push fit cover encircled with bands of tooled decoration and surmounted with a tapering urn style finial.

This exceptional example of antique silverware is fitted with a carved handle with a plain scrolling thumbpiece, featuring a cast silver circular socket to the upper portion.

The teapot is fitted with a fine and impressive cast swan necked spout accented with an incurved segment and stylised-animalistic facial motif to the lip.

The hallmarks struck to this 18th century French antique silver teapot include:

Maker's mark: JRF (Jean-Francois Roumier)

Charge mark: A (Large charge, 1783-1789)

Discharge mark: Griffin head (Large discharge, circa 1789)

Inventory/Census mark: Fly (circa 1789, for Paris during the 'Ancien Régime')


This French antique silver teapot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The interior of the teapot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

There are some natural surface blemishes, in keeping with age and use.

The hallmarks struck to the underside of the body, interior of the cover and surface of the cover sleeve are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.
