This exceptional antique French silver tea set consists of a teapot, cream jug and covered sugar bowl.

Each piece has a circular rounded form to a circular spreading foot.

The surface of each piece is embellished with cast and applied undulating branches incorporating strawberries with conformant foliage.

The sugar bowl and cream jug are fitted with exceptional C shaped cast silver handles, replicating the details of the aforementioned branches; the ornamentation to the body of each piece emanates from the sockets of the handles.

The exceptional teapot retains the original carved stained wood side-handle, featuring a textured socket.

The teapot is fitted with plain domed hinged hallmarked cover and sugar bowl retains the original push fit cover.

Each cover is embellished with further undulating branch and fruit ornamentation, replicating the designs to the body; the hinge to the teapot is comprised of a combination of the branch designs to the body and those to the cover.

The teapot features an exceptional cast silver swan necked, faceted spout embellished with further branch textures.

The surface of each piece retains the original gilding.

Silver quality/purity mark: Minerva mark, 1 (.950, 950/1000)

The pieces of this antique silver tea set are fitted to the original, exceptional leatherette presentation case with a fine and impressive satin and velvet lined interior, securing with two hinge catches.

The interior of the cover bears the retailer's mark 'Fouquet-Gueudet, Ch, Liévin Sucr, Joaillier-Orfèvre, 18 Rue de la Chaussée-d'Anti, Paris'.

The pieces of this antique French silver tea service are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The interior of the each piece has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

The applied and chased decoration is very sharp.

The French hallmarks struck to the underside of the teapot and sugar bowl, in addition to the surface of the cream jug and rim of the teapot cover are all very clear.
