An exceptional, fine and impressive antique cut glass and German silver mounted claret jug; an addition to our wine and drink related collection

This exceptional antique German 800 standard silver & glass claret jug has an oval, tapering rounded form.


The neck is fitted with an impressive silver mount embellished with a frosted finish with the original gilded highlights.


Either side of the mount is embellished with a chased scrolling leaf bordered vacant cartouche, accented with floral designs to the upper portion.


The mount is fitted with the original hallmarked domed hinged cover embellished with further chased scrolling leaf and floral designs emanating from the bud style finial.


This glass claret jug is fitted with a silver gilt naturalistic handle in the form of a branch.


The spout is embellished with an impressive chased leaf to the underside with a lobed motif to the nadir.


The original bulbous glass body of this German jug is embellished with impressive cut glass hobnail and leaf decoration in a swirl design, in addition to a star cut motif to the underside.
