The pieces of this exceptional, antique German silver boxed canteen of cutlery for twelve persons have been crafted in the Fiddle and Thread pattern.
The surface of each handle is embellished with a paralleling thread decorated border accented with a pip to the terminal.
The posterior surface of each fork and spoon terminal, in addition to the knife handles, are ornamented with a contemporary bright cut engraved initial 'SBSt'.
The sauce ladle retains the original gilded interior.

This boxed canteen of cutlery is supplied with two replacement knives which bear a good size proportion to the remaining service and the initials to each handle are 'M.H'; the service has been priced accordingly.
This impressive German silver cutlery set is fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with four drawers.
The presentation box retains the original satin lined covering to each drawer and interior of the cover.
The exterior surface of the box bears the original carrying handles and swivel catches, in addition to a decorative escutcheon; the functional locking mechanism is not provided with a key.
The cover of box bears the inscription 'Josef Strauss, seinen Kindern, Sem. & Becca, 19 Dezember 1886'.
