German Silver Coffee Pot - Antique Circa 1850

Description

This impressive antique German silver coffee pot has an bulbous shaped form onto a circular shaped spreading foot.

The surface of this coffee pot is plain and encircled with a shaped band of scrolling leaf and floral decoration in junction with the cylindrical upper portion.

The upper rim is embellished with an applied border identical to that of the body.

The coffee pot is fitted with a domed hinged cover ornamneted with concave panels and surmounted with an impressive and original finial, reflecting the style of the scrolling borders.

This German silver coffee pot is fitted with an impressive opposing scrolling handle with an embossed fluted lower socket and bifurcating scrolling leaf decorated upper socket.

The swan necked spout is encompassed with incurved fluted ornamentation in addition to a lobed leaf motif to the lip and a scroll bordered vacant cartouche to the lower portion.

This impressive example of antique silverware is supported by an impressive scroll and leaf decorated spreading foot.
