This exceptional antique German silver gallery tray has a plain oval form.

The large surface of this antique silver tray is ornamented with a fine array of engraved floral and foliate designs, intertwined with ribbon motifs.

The ornamentation to the centre of the tray incorporates the contemporary engraved initials 'TSC'.

The galleried border of this tray is embellished with pierced interlacing arched motifs below a plain applied moulded band to the rim.

This tray is fitted with a pair of impressive cast silver handles ornamented with leaf motifs to the terminals and a plain circular knop to the centre of each handpiece.

The hallmarks to the underside of the tray include:

National mark: Crescent moon and crown

Silver quality/purity mark: 800 (800/1000)

Maker's mark: H. Meyen & Co

This antique German silver gallery tray is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The pierced and applied decoration is very sharp and the engraved ornamentation is very crisp.

The German hallmarks struck to the underside of the tray all very clear
