An exceptional, fine and impressive antique German 800 standard silver and enamel cigarette case; an addition to our diverse range of continental silverware

This exceptional antique 800 standard silver German cigarette case has a plain rectangular form with rounded corners.


The anterior cover is embellished with an impressive enamel panel depicting a gentleman with a monical and dressed in formal attire aiding a lady with the removal of her shoes whilst her gown lays discarded on the floor to the background and a small dog sat on a pillow observes to the foreground.


The posterior cover is embellished with impressive engine turned decoration.


The rounded sides of this antique cigarette case are plain and unembellished.


This case is fitted with a plain rounded thumbpiece and push fit catch, which when released reveals two hinged compartments.


This impressive example of antique silverware retains the original gilt interior.


The hallmarks struck to the interior of this fine case include:

Maker's mark: B (Otto Bortenreuter)

Silver quality/purity mark: 800 (800/1000)

National mark/reichsmark: Crescent moon and crown (Halbmond und Krone)

This antique German cigarette case is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The enamel is in perfect condition.

There are some signs of wear and discolouration to the orignal gilding, as to be expected in keeping with age and use.

The German hallmarks to the interior of the case are all very clear.
