The surface of this fine example of vintage silverware is embellished with an impressive bright cut engraved crest depicting an armoured Rolls Royce and motto 'Per Ardua Stabilis Esto'* - Steadfast Through Adversity.

The aforementioned heraldic markings are displayed above the engraved presentation inscription 'Reunion Dinner, 20th July 1946, Pte J.F.W.Irwin'.

This impressive silver mug retains the original gilt interior.

The underside of the mug is fitted with the original circular glass base.

* This motto may have a potential connection with the 2nd Calcutta Battalion which had armed motor vehicles. The motto is also that of the original Seal of Calcutta.
