These exceptional antique Venetian silver candlesticks have a circular rounded form to a circular spreading base.
The bell shaped capitals of these silver candlesticks are encircled with an applied moulded border below the plain fixed sconces.
The capitals are supported by tapering cylindrical columns embellished with plain applied bands to the upper and lower portions.
The plain waisted knop to the lower portion of each column is encircled with an applied moulded border.
The inverted bell-shaped foot of each candlestick is plain and unembellished.
Each candlestick does not have a weighted base.
These Italian silver candlesticks bear the Venetian Assay Office (Zecca) mark (St.Mark lion in "moleca"), in addition to two other unidentified marks*.
*Venetian silversmiths scarcely followed the rules and applied the Italian hallmarks of this period, no item with all five marks is known; most pieces will include two marks, typically the assayer and the Zecca mark.
