Description


This exceptional antique Italian silver jewellery casket has an oval shaped form.


The surface of this jewellery casket is embellished with impressive chased panels of scrolling foliate and floral ornamentation, segmented with vertical ribbed borders, all on a matte background.


The upper portion of the body is encompassed with a leaf textured border below a band of scrolling leaf ornamentation.


The original hallmarked domed hinged cover is ornamented with further chased decoration, reflecting the style of the body, incorporating a large and impressive scrolling leaf border to the outer circumference.


The surface of the cover is further ornamented with a cast and applied floral spray design to the centre.


The cover of the casket is encompassed with a protruding border accented with a cast and applied scrolling thumbpiece.


The body of the casket is fitted with a bespoke velvet fitment.


The body and cover of this fine jewellery casket retain the original gilding to the interior.


This exceptional box is supported by four cast silver bracket style scrolling leaf decorated feet.


The hallmarks struck to the underside of this box includes:

Silver quality/purity mark: 800 (800 standard, 800/1000).

Maker's registration: 110 MI (GANCI CARMELO di GIUSEPPE MORANDINO*, Milano)
