This fine and impressive antique gold locket has been crafted in 15ct yellow gold.

The locket has an oval form, the anterior face bearing the applied and engraved decorated monogram 'DMS'.

The reverse is plain and unembellished.

The hinged locket opens to reveal two push fit glass compartments, each housing a photograph, this may be removed and replaced with a personal memento if so desired.

The rim surrounding the push fit glass compartment to the reverse of the anterior face is hallmarked with the lion passant, the 15ct gold mark (15), the maker's mark 'H.C.', the Glasgow Assay Office hallmark (tree, fish and bell) and the date letter for 1869 (Y).

The rim to the reverse of the posterior face is hallmarked with the lion passant, 15ct gold mark and date letter Y.

The locket suspends from a 24" fancy belcher style chain, crafted in 9ct gold and hallmarked to the clasp with the mark for 9ct gold (9C).

This impressive antique locket is fine quality with a sharp engraved decorated monogram.

The locket and chain are a very good gauge of gold and are in excellent condition, with very clear and deeply struck hallmarks to the interior.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of antique jewellery/estate jewelry.
