Newcastle Sterling Silver Coffee Pot - Antique Georgian (1746)

Description

This exceptional antique George II Newcastle sterling silver coffee pot has a baluster shaped form onto a circular domed spreading foot.

The surface of this 18th century coffee pot is plain and unembellished, encircled with an applied moulded border to the upper rim.

The coffee pot retains the original domed hinged cover surmounted with an impressive cast sterling silver pineapple decorated finial.

This antique coffee pot has an opposing scroll pear wood handle featuring a plain scrolling thumbpiece and fitted to an impressive cast silver scrolling lower terminal and leaf ornamentation to the upper socket.

This antique coffee pot has an impressive cast sterling silver swan necked spout embellished with fluted scrolling designs to the lower portion, in addition to a leaf motif to the lip.

The underside of this silver coffee pot features the contemporary engraved initials 'WEM'.

This exceptional example of antique silverware features no maker's mark; the maker is therefore unknown.
