Pink Corundum and Pearl, 9 ct Yellow Gold Pendant / Brooch - Art Nouveau Style - Antique

Description

This versatile antique Art Nouveau pendant which may also be worn as a brooch has been crafted in 9 ct yellow gold.

The pendant has a floriated, Art Nouveau style pierced decorated form.

The feature 'flower bud' marquise cut synthetic pink corundum is six claw set to the top of the pierced decorated setting.

The 9 ct yellow gold circular, interlaced design incorporating buds and pinnate style leaves is embellished with a total of nineteen seed pearls of various sizes.

This pendant is suspended from a 45.6cm/18", 9ct yellow gold heavy trace chain via a fully articulated, pearl set, shaped, tapering loop.

This loop allows the pendant to be released from the neck chain, and worn as a brooch.

The necklace secures to the reverse with a hallmarked conventional spring ring clasp.

The 9 ct fineness mark (375) is clearly struck to the chain catch on the necklace.

This fine Art Nouveau pendant is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card.

The pendant has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 9 ct gold.

*NOTE: Contrary to what many people may think, the word "synthetic” does not mean fake when it comes to gemstones. In order for a material to be called "synthetic" it must have a natural counterpart. A synthetic corundum will have the same chemical composition as a natural corundum and therefore have an almost identical appearance to the naked eye.

The first ruby formed by melting two smaller rubies together was in 1817, and the first microscopic crystals created from alumina in a laboratory in 1837.

Common practice was to set and enhance fine quality antique jewellery with vibrant and colourful synthetic stones.
