Description

This fine and impressive antique snake ring has been crafted in 18 ct yellow gold.

This yellow gold snake has a smooth finished, sculptured form modelled in the shape of two snakes* entwined.

The serpents' heads are independently ornamented with a 0.05 ct round cut ruby and a 0.03 ct Old European round cut diamond.

The shoulders and shank are made up from the wound bodies of the snake.

The hallmarks to the interior of the shank include the maker's mark 'A.Bros', the gold guarantee mark (crown), the 18 ct gold mark (18), the Chester city-arms and the date letter for 1900 (R).

This yellow gold snake ring is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card.

"Rather than regarding inclusions in coloured stones as harmful, in small sizes and numbers that do not in any way detract from their beauty, they should be regarded as adding to desirability, for they provide identifying characteristics."

Reference: The Connoisseur’s Guide to Precious Gemstones, R.Wise, Brunswick House Press.

NOTE* Snakes were a universally popular expression of eternal love or a powerful symbol of wisdom.

Andrew sold these items at various London markets and antique fairs. Over time, and through selling at a range of venues, Andrew built up a large and diverse customer base from private buyers to national and international trade customers.
