Description


These exceptional vintage Russian silver gilt tea cups and saucers have a circular rounded form onto a circular collet style base.


The surface of both the cup and saucer is embellished with fine and impressive cloisonné enamel scrolling stemmed foliate and floral designs using various tones of blue and green accented with paralleling bands of white enamel circular motifs, all on a black enamel background.


The enamel segments are encompassed with applied silver gilt paralleling rope twist ornamentation.


Each cup is fitted with an impressive C shaped handle ornamented with circular black enamel motifs to the anterior surface of the handpiece.


The anterior and interior surfaces of these Russian tea cups and saucers retain the original gilding.


The hallmarks to the underside of each piece includes:

Maker's mark: ЛЮЗ (Untraced)

Soviet silver mark: Hammer and sickle star emblem

Assay mark: Л (Leningrad*)

Silver quality/purity mark: 916 (916/1000)


* The modern day city name of Lenigrad is St. Petersburg.

Condition


These Russian tea cups and saucers are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

There are a few minor blemishes to the interior of the cups in keeping with age and use.

The Russian hallmarks struck to the underside of each piece are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these examples of vintage Russian silverware.
