An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Russian silver and polychrome cloisonne enamel tray; an addition to our diverse silver teaware collection

This exceptional antique Russian silver and enamel tray has a rectangular rounded form.


The surface of the antique tray is embellished with fine and impressive cloisonné stemmed scrolling foliate and floral designs using various tones of blue and green accented with red and white highlights.


The ornamentation incorporates a central plain circular vacant cartouche.


The surface of the tray is encompassed with a paralleling band of blue enamel to the lower portion of the raised rounded border.


The aforementioned border is embellished with further scrolling leaf and floral designs accented with a band of blue enamel circular motifs to the rim.


The enamel segments are encompassed with applied silver paralleling rope twist ornamentation.


The anterior and posterior surfaces of this Russian silver tray retain the original gilding.


The hallmarks to the underside of the tray include:

Maker's mark: ИК

Silver quality/purity mark: 84 (84 zolotniks*)

City mark: St Petersburg**


* 84 zolotniki is equivalent to 875/1000 or .875 standard silver.


** The use of the dvoinik, the combined city and standard mark, was used between 1882-1899; this determines the date of this piece as circa 1890.

This antique Russian silver and enamel tray is an exceptional of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The enamel is in perfect condition.

The original gilding shows signs of wear in keeping with age.

There are some surface marks to the underside of the tray, in keeping with age and use.

The Russian hallmarks struck to the underside of the body are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of antique silverware.
