Description


This antique regimental brooch has been crafted in 9 ct yellow gold.


The brooch reflects the regimental cap badge of the 12th Royal Lancers, incorporating the Prince of Wales ostrich feathers, the Roman numerals XII (12), crossed lances with scarlet and white pennons surmounted with the King's crown.


The King's crown is highlighted with red enamel panels, and the pennons with both red and white enamel.


This authentic brooch also displays the 12th Royal Lancers motto "Ich Dien" - I serve.


This fine 1930's sweetheart brooch secures with a hinged pin and clasp and is hallmarked to the reverse with the 9ct gold fineness mark (9ct).


*Note: The original Regiment was raised in 1715 in response to the threat of the Jacobite rebellion. In 1768 the three ostrich feathers and motto were added to the regimental insignia. In 1921 the regiment was renamed 12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales's). Most recently, in 2015 the regiment amalgamated with the Queen’s Royal Lancers, and is presently known as 'The Royal Lancers'.


Condition


This authentic regimental broosh is fine quality.

It is a very good gauge of gold and in excellent condition with a clear hallmark and only minimal losses to the enamel.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine examples of military jewellery / estate jewelry.
