This exceptional antique Edwardian cut glass and sterling silver hip flask has a rectangular form with rounded corners.

The body of this antique glass flask is embellished with impressive acid etched ribbon bow designs connected with suspended bud and floral swags.

The glass body of this impressive flask is encompassed with undulating fluted decoration to a plain recessed lower portion, in addition to a star cut motif to the underside.

The lower portion of the body is fitted with a fine and impressive push fit hallmarked drinking cup with the original gilded interior.

The surface of the drinking cup is embellished with fine and impressive bright cut engraved decoration replicating the ribbon bow and swag designs of that to the body.

The upper portion of the drinking cup is encircled with a plain moulded border to the rim.

This impressive flask is fitted with a domed fully hallmarked hinged cover with a bayonet fitting.

The cover is encircled with further bright cut engraved ribbon designs with alternating floral motifs.

The underside of the detachable cup bears the retailer’s mark ‘Drew & Sons, Piccadilly Circus. W’.

This flask has been tested and is water tight and ready for use.

To ensure the flask remains water tight, the cork should be moist and therefore fully expanded to provide an effective seal.

There are two recommended methods to ensure that the cork does not dry out and shrink:

Method One: Keep fluid in the flask at all times, and keep the flask on its side to ensure the cork remains wet.

Method Two: Fill the flask to the brim with fluid and close. Leave it like this overnight, or for 24 hours if possible, before use.

Date: 1910

This antique glass flask is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

The glass body of the flask is in perfect condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the drinking cup are worn in keeping with age and location.

The full hallmarks to the mount are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.
