This fine antique Chinese export silver (CES) tea caddy has a baluster shaped form.

The surface of the body is embellished with fine and impressive chased decorated intertwining bamboo stalks growing from a rocky terrain and accented with birds within the foliage.

This decoration to this Chinese tea caddy incorporates an applied shield shaped vacant cartouche.

The upper portion of the body is encircled with impressive chased decoration depicting an iconic oriental dragon amidst clouds.

This solid silver tea caddy retains the original, plain cylindrical push fit cover embellished with further chased bamboo decoration to the plateaued upper portion.

The hallmarks to the underside of this impressive tea caddy include:

Maker's mark: WH (Wang Hing & Company)

Silver quality/purity mark: 90* (90 standard, 900/1000)

Character maker: Untraced

* The purity mark uses a reversed G in place of the numeral 9

This antique Chinese tea caddy is an excellent gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the caddy are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the excellent gauge of silver.
