This fine antique Victorian electroplated silver jug has a circular conical form onto a collet foot.

The body of the jug is embellished with an engraved Aesthetic style tassel decorated tapering design below a wreath and ribbon bordered vacant cartouche.

The surface of the silver jug has an overall frosted finish.

The lower portion of the neck and lower rim of the body are encircled with an applied band of linked stylised butterfly designs.

The jug is fitted with a hinged sunken cover surmounted with an impressive finial realistically modelled in the form of a butterfly.

The posterior surface of the neck is embellished with a stylised leaf motif to the lower portion of the cover hinge.

This impressive jug is fitted with an angular shaped handle with a plain shaped thumbpiece and further engraved leaf ornamentation to the lower socket.

This antique jug is a very good gauge of silver, very good quality and in excellent condition.

The jug retains the original electroplating.

The plater's hallmarks to the underside of the base are clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.

Height to top of finial 21.5cm/8.5"
