This exceptional antique Indian silver mug has a cylindrical bell shaped form onto a circular spreading foot.

The surface of this antique mug is embellished with exceptional profuse finely chased scrolling leaf and floral decoration flanked with bands of undulating grape and vine ornamentation, all on a matte background; a style typically found in Cutch (Kutch) silver work from the second half of the nineteenth century.

The decoration to the body of the mug incorporates an applied shield shaped cartouche displaying the presentation inscription 'Dorothy Margaret Church'.

The mug is fitted with a C shaped handle ornamented with simplified leaf designs to the upper and lower terminals.

The foot of the mug is encircled with a chased vertebrate band of scrolling lead and floral motifs.

This impressive antique mug retains the original gilt interior.

This Indian silver mug has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as pure silver (1000/1000).
