This fine antique Indian silver vase has a circular rounded bell shaped form with a flared applied moulded rim.

The body of this vase is embellished with profuse finely chased scrolling leaf and floral decoration incorporating iconic indigenous Indian animals.

The vase is ornamented with a shaped leaf border to the upper rim.

The lower portion of the body and the circular spreading foot are encircled with chased acanthus leaf borders.

This fine example of Indian silverware has been crafted by the renowned Kutch silversmiths Oomersee Mawjee & Sons*.

* A vast amount of silverware produced in Kutch was crafted by the pre-eminent Indian silversmith Oomersee Mawjee, who was later joined in the profession by his sons. The attention to compact scrollwork superimposed with lively animals is an identifiable mark of his imaginative work.

This antique vase is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The chased decoration is very sharp.

The maker’s mark struck to the underside of the vase is very clear.
