This exceptional George II sterling silver quart* tankard has a plain cylindrical tapering form onto a spreading thread decorated foot.

The body of the tankard is encircled with an applied thread decorated girdle below an impressive contemporary engraved branch and floral bordered cartouche displaying a chevron charged with a five pointed star between three trefoils.

The escutcheon is surmounted with a crest depicting a boar's head erect and erased.

This antique George II tankard retains the original hallmarked domed cover surmounted by an impressive volute scrolling thumbpiece.

This quart tankard is fitted with a hallmarked S scroll handle with an impressive heart shaped terminal in addition to a pendant drop design and the contemporary engraved initials 'KWF' to the upper portion.

This exceptional George II quart tankard, crafted by the renowned Newcastle silversmith John Langlands I, has a fine colour and patination**

This tankard is an exceptional provincial Newcastle example of its type.

This George II silver quart tankard is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in excellent condition.

This original tankard has some surface blemishes in keeping with age.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the tankard and lion passant struck to the surface of the cover in addition to the maker's mark to the handle are all very clear, in keeping with age and location.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of early Georgian silverware.
