This large antique William IV Old Sheffield plate* centrepiece is crafted in the Regency style.

The main receiver has a circular rounded form and is embellished with a fine and impressive acanthus leaf decorated shaped border.

The rope decorated supports are ornamented with scroll and leaf decorated knops and have fine and impressive stylised floral motif fluted terminals to the upper portion.

This centrepiece has two detachable arms, embellished with further rope twist decoration with leaf ornamented knops terminating with fine and impressive circular receivers ornamented with leaf and floral decoration to the supports.

These arms are secured by the original screw fitting ornamented with a flame finial.

Each receiver retains the original cut glass bowls.

The receivers, knop to the central pedestal, base and the screw fitting are encircled with a gadroon decorated border.

The plain spreading lower portion of the central pedestal is further embellished with gadroon decoration accented with four shell designs.

The shaped base incorporates applied floral and scroll designs to the surface and is supported by four exceptional Regency style feet.

This exceptional and large centrepiece is in its original condition; the best example of its type you could hope to find.

* Old Sheffield Plate is the process of fusing a layer of silver on to a layer of copper. The process was discovered by Thomas Boulsover in 1742. Old Sheffield plate is highly sought after due to its rarity and age - it was superseded by cheaper electroplate in the early 1840's.


This antique centrepiece is exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The decoration is very sharp.

The original cut glass bowls are all in perfect condition.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.
