This exceptional pair of antique George II sterling silver sugar casters has a baluster shaped form onto a spreading domed foot.

The body of the each caster is encircled with an applied girdle below a bright cut engraved crest of a lion rampant.

The upper portion of the body of each is encircled with two bands of tooled decoration below a plain applied moulded rim.

Each silver caster retains the original hallmarked push fit cover, embellished with shaped pierced decoration amidst geometric grid ornamentation.

The covers are surmounted by impressive sterling silver urn style finials.

The cover, finial and foot of each are encircled with further tooled decoration.

These exceptional examples of Early Georgian silverware were crafted by the prolific London caster maker Samuel Wood.

Each sugar caster is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The bright cut engraved crests shows sign of wear in keeping with age.

Full hallmarks are struck to the underside of each caster are all very clear.

The part hallmarks to the sleeve of each cover shows sign of wear as expected, in keeping with age.

Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this Early Georgian silverware.
