A fine pair of antique Victorian sterling silver tureens; part of our silverware collection

These fine tureens have an oval rounded plain form.

Each tureen is supported by four oval cartouche scroll and bead chased decorated feet.

The twin carrying handles to each tureen has a similar style of scroll and bead chased decoration.

The tureens are fitted with domed oval covers which retain the original detachable bead decorated handles with hallmarked wing nuts.

There is also substantial bead decoration to the rim of the tureens.

There is bright cut engraved strapwork designs to the body and cover of each piece.

Incorporated within each of the designs, are oval cartouche displaying bright cut engraved crests of a gryphon statant, semee of mullets and resting the dexter claw upon a mil-rind*.

The covers are further embellished with bright cut engraved Greek key style borders.

* This is the family crest of John Lister, Esquire, of Bradford, Yorkshire.

These fine tureens are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional condition.

The bright cut engraved and chased decoration is very crisp and clear.

Full hallmarks struck to the base, cover interior and each handle are very clear apart from some of the maker's marks which have been poorly struck.

Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of these items.
