Description

These exceptional antique George III cast sterling silver candlesticks have an octagonal panelled form onto a spreading octagonal base, in the classic English style.

The octagonal shaped capitals retain the original detachable push fit sconces, with reed decorated borders to the rims.

The capitals are supported by octagonal tapering columns featuring panelled knops to the upper and lower portions.

The capital, lower portion of the column and base of each candlestick is encircled with impressive fluted ornamentation.

These Georgian silver candlesticks do not have weighted bases.

Cast examples of this desirable size and style are uncommon.

Date: 1796

Condition

These antique Georgian candlesticks are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The decoration to each Georgian silver candlestick is all very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each base and part hallmarks to the sleeve of each sconce are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply and sharply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these examples of antique Georgian silverware.
