The pieces of this exceptional, antique Victorian sterling silver straight* flatware service for six persons have been crafted in Queen's pattern.

The anterior surface of each fork and spoon handle is embellished with the classic Queen's pattern ornamentation, including a convex shell design to the terminal, in addition to the scroll bordered honeysuckle and rosette design.

The decoration to the handle to each fork and spoon incorporates the contemporary engraved initials 'RP'.

Each piece features plain shoulders, in addition to the spoons and ladles bearing rounded heels.

The reverse surfaces of the spoons and forks are plain and unembellished, apart from the featured hallmarks.

This Queens pattern silver cutlery set consists of:

Basic Service:
6 Table knives
6 Table forks
6 Table spoons
6 Dessert knives
6 Dessert forks
6 Dessert spoons
Additional Pieces:
Pair of sauce ladles
Pair of serving spoons

The components of this antique Victorian service have been crafted by the Sheffield silversmith Joseph Ridge of John Round & Son Ltd in 1892, apart from the table and dessert knives, which are replacements**.

The sterling silver replacement knives, made by Emile Viner of Viner's Ltd in 1962, retain the original stainless steel blades.

These impressive examples of antique silverware are supplied in felt cutlery rolls; which not only protect the items in storage but significantly reduces tarnishing.

* "Straight" means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year.

** Predominately all antique silver canteens have replacement knives as the originals have not stood the test of time.

Date: 1892

This antique Queens pattern silver cutlery set is a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each piece and to the surface of the knives are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine and impressive Victorian canteen.
