The fundamental pieces of this straight* antique service have been crafted by the renowned London flatware maker William Eaton in 1828, apart from the knives which are replacements**.

This impressive canteen of cutlery is fitted to a fine oak lift up lid and well, two drawer canteen box with a blue velvet interior.

The box features brass carrying and drawer handles and a central incurved-cornered rectangular vacant cartouche to the lid.

The oak hinged draw restraints to the front of the box are ornamented with impressive bands of carved decoration.

* "Straight" means all the pieces are made by the same maker in the same year.

**Predominately all antique silver canteens have replacement knives as the originals have not stood the test of time.

Date: 1828

This antique canteen is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The decoration is very sharp.

The silver has fine colour and patination in keeping with age. If required, the service could be repolished to a very bright finish to suit personal preferences.

Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each piece are all very clear in keeping with age.

The oak box has been professionally polished by a cabinet maker.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine and impressive canteen.
