This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver card case has a shaped rectangular form.

The surface of this case is embellished with chased and embossed scroll, foliate and floral decoration on a matt background incorporating a central panel depicting Windsor Castle* in high relief to the centre of the anterior side and Abbotsford House** to the reverse.

The shaped sides of this piece are embellished with a plain scrolling border.

This sterling silver card case is fitted with a hinged cover incorporating a shaped cartouche to the anterior surface, embellished with the contemporary engraved initials ‘JJS’.

* The residence of the British Royal family at Windsor, distinguishable by its Victorian architecture.

** A historical country house which was the former residence of renowned novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott, situated in the Scottish Borders.

This antique card case is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The decoration to this piece is very crisp and very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the sleeve are all very clear.
