This exceptional early George II sterling silver chocolate pot has a plain tapering cylindrical form with a subtly flared moulded base.

The plain body of this antique hot chocolate pot is embellished with a contemporary engraved coat of arms* of a bugle horn between three roses to one side and a bend engrailed and a label of three points to the other.

The upper rim and foot of this exeptional example of Georgian silverware is encircled with an applied moulded border.

This impressive example of antique teaware is fitted with a domed hallmarked cover surmounted with a detachable sterling silver circular rounded finial.

The cover secures to the body with the original chain and security peg; once in situ this forms a classic hinge allowing the cover to be removed fully for ease of cleaning.

The chocolate pot is fitted with an opposing scroll style carved pear wood handle with scrolling thumbpiece and fitted to plain sterling silver sockets.

The chocolate pot has an impressive panelled swan necked spout with an applied moulded border to the socket.

The underside of the pot bears the contemporary engraved initials 'E.R', in addition to the full hallmarks.

This impressive example of Georgian silverware was crafted by the renowned silversmith Peter Archambo I.

* The armourial bearings are those of the Bagshawe and Nuttall family, to commemorate the marriage of Adam Bagshawe and Margaret Nuttall on 3rd March 1708.

This antique Georgian silver chocolate pot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition, in keeping with its age.

The interior of the chocolate pot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

There is an opening to the original wood handle, this does not affect the integrity of the piece.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the base and lion passant to the interior of the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Georgian silverware.
