This exceptional antique George VI sterling silver cigarette case has a rectangular form with subtly bevelled, rounded sides.

The anterior and posterior covers are embellished with engine turned decoration.

The decoration to the anterior cover incorporates an engraved scene depicting two male mallard ducks, one in flight and one with wings risen standing in water amidst reeds and grass.

The sides of each cover of this antique cigarette case are encompassed with further engine turned decoration.

This case is fitted with a push fit catch, which when released reveals two hinged compartments.

The anterior cover of the case bears the original engraved presentation inscription 'Surg Lt I Miskelly, Stormont, Dumfries.', and the other is fitted with the original retaining strap.

This impressive example of antique silverware retains the original gilt interior.

Date: 1938


This antique cigarette case is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the interior of the anterior cover, and part hallmarks to the posterior are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this impressive example of antique silverware.
