These fine antique George III sterling silver coasters have a plain cylindrical form with a stepped rounded base.

The surface of each coaster is embellished with a fine and impressive contemporary bright cut engraved incurved shaped cartouche bearing a crest of a stag’s head couped.

The rims of the coasters are encircled with fine and impressive applied thread decorated borders.

The coasters retain the original fine and impressive mahogany bases and are fitted with green baize to the underside.

These impressive Georgian coasters were crafted by the renowned and collectable London silversmith Henry Chawner.

Date: 1792

These antique coasters are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each coaster are very clear; the nature of the coasters dictates the location of the hallmarks, resulting in their shallow struck nature and subsequent wear, in keeping with age. In this instance both sets of hallmarks remain very clear.

Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of these pieces of Georgian silverware.

Diameter of rim 12cm/4.7"

Height 4cm/1.6"
