Description


This magnificent antique Victorian sterling silver coffee pot has a baluster shaped form onto a circular domed foot.


The body of this fine coffee pot is embellished with a multitude of exceptional chased panels depicting stemmed floral and foliate, fruiting vine and shell ornamentation all on matte textured backgrounds.


The panels are encompassed with large scrolling leaf designs and incorporate a cartouche to either side of the body.


The cartouche to one side displays the contemporary bright cut engraved crest encircled with the belted motto 'Mutare Fidem Nescit - Faith does not change, and the other side bears a corresponding coat of arms above the aforementioned motto.


This Victorian coffee pot is fitted with a hallmarked domed hinged cover encircled with further chased decoration reflecting the style displayed on the body.


The impressive shaped rim of the coffee pot is encircled with an applied scrolling leaf decorated border.


The cover is surmounted with the original and impressive hallmarked sterling silver floral and foliate finial, securing to the interior with a wing nut.


The impressive opposing scroll handle is ornamented with panels of matte chased decoration accented with floral and foliate designs to the anterior surface of the handpiece in addition to the scrolling thumbpiece.


The lower terminal of the hallmarked handle is embellished with an impressive single leaf design and the upper socket features a bearded mask design in junction with the body.


The impressive swan necked spout is ornamented with detailed floral and leaf designs incorporating a textured chased leaf decoration to the shaped socket and a single leaf designs to the upper surface of the lip.


The circular foot is encompassed with chased undulating decoration incorporating floral designs and shell motifs.


This magnificent silver coffee pot is probably the finest example of its type you could hope to acquire.

Condition


This Victorian coffee pot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The interior of the coffee pot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

The chased decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the coffee pot and part hallmarks to the finial, handle and interior of the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian silverware.
