Description


This exceptional antique George III sterling silver coffee pot has a plain baluster form onto a circular domed spreading foot.


The surface of the body is plain and unembellished.


This coffee pot retains the original hallmarked domed hinged cover surmounted with a fine and impressive sterling silver flame style finial.


The coffee pot retains the original opposing scroll pear wood handle with an impressive scrolling lower terminal and chased stylised leaf decoration to the upper socket.


The circular domed spreading foot and cover are encircled with gadroon decorated borders.


This Georgian coffee pot has an impressive swan necked spout embellished with a large chased decorated scrolling leaf design to the underside in addition to the lip, with a pendant drop ornamentation to the nadir of the shaped socket.


The underside of the coffee pot is ornamented with the contemporary engraved initials ‘WIA’ surrounding a central star motif.


This exceptional example of silverware, crafted by the renowned London silversmith William Grundy, is one of the finest examples of its type you could hope to acquire.

Condition


This antique coffee pot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The interior of the coffee pot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.

The chased decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the coffee pot and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique Georgian silverware.
