This fine Victorian English sterling silver gilt pepper grinder has a baluster form to a circular domed collet style foot.

The gilt surface of the body and cover is embellished with fine and impressive embossed fluted decoration in a swirl design.

This impressive piece of antique silverware retains the original hallmarked cover surmounted by the original hallmarked functional, shaped finial, which when unscrewed provides access to permit the grinder to be filled.

The underside of the grinder retains the original hallmarked star shaped grille which bears the retailer’s mark ‘Carrington & Co, 130 Regent St, London’.

This fine example of Victorian silverware retains the original gilt finish.

This antique pepper grinder is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The original gilding is in excellent condition, in keeping with age.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body and part hallmarks to the surface of the finial and grille, and the interior of the cover are all very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique Victorian silverware.
