Description

This fine antique Victorian sterling silver goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a baluster shaped knopped stem and circular spreading foot.

The body of the goblet is embellished with bright cut engraved incurved shaped arches incorporating scrolling stylised leaf divisions.

The decoration to the body forms four cartouches: two feature impressive quatrefoil designs and the remaining two are vacant.

The knop to the stem is encircled with a bead decorated border.

The foot is ornamented with a bright cut engraved simplified scrolling leaf decorated border in addition to a band of bead decoration to the rim.

Date: 1868

Condition

This antique silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver for its type, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the goblet are all very clear.
