This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver milk/cream can has an oval form; crafted in the form of the brass/tin cans originally used by the general worker.

The surface of the can has a frosted finish.

This fine example of Victorian silverware is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover ornamented with a triangular design to the hinge.

The interior of the cover bears the retailers mark ‘Albert Barker, 5 New Bond St, London, W’.

The can retains the original hallmarked swing carrying handle with terminating loops attached to lugs to the body.

The posterior of the can is fitted with a wire work style clip attachment with triangular shaped terminal, reflecting that of the hinge.

The interior of the can, triangular ornamentation to the hinge and clip, wirework clip and handle retain the original gilt decoration.

Date: 1891

This antique can is an exceptional gauge of silver, fine quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The frosted finish is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the anterior surface of the can and part hallmarks to the cover are very clear.
