Description


This exceptional antique Edwardian English sterling silver presentation bowl has a plain circular rounded waisted form.


The body of this antique bowl is plain and unembellished.


The exceptional elevated, deep shaped rim of this impressive bowl is ornamented with pierced and chased decoration depicting a figural hunting scene incorporating dogs ambushing a stag and boar, all on a grassy terrain and with a woodland background.


The bowl is supported on four exceptional cast and applied sterling silver legs with a figural mask and scrolling leaf design in junction with the body.


Each leg is further ornamented with a ribbed design and terminates with a large and impressive lobed petal decorated foot.


The underside of the bowl bears the retailer's mark 'D&M Davis, Birmingham'.


Date: 1906

Condition


This antique presentation bowl is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the bowl are clear, in keeping with age and location; the first portion of the maker's mark is worn but remains legible.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Edwardian silverware.
