This fine Victorian sterling silver presentation/champagne cup has a campania shaped form to a knopped pedestal and rounded foot.

This antique cup is embellished with a band of embossed bead and scrolling leaf decoration to the upper portion and to the lower portion a stylised stemmed leaf and bead ornamentation alternating with additional points to form an uraniscus design.

The knop to the pedestal and lower portion of the foot are encircled with further embossed and chased alternating bead and leaf designs.

The upper portion of the foot is embellished with impressive embossed and chased stylised leaf ornamentation and bears the retailer’s mark ‘London and Ryder 17 New Bond St W’ to the rim.

This Victorian champagne cup has two impressive scrolling handles with two leaf designs to the handle centred with a bead decorated knop; the leaf to the upper portion is embellished with a band of bead decoration to the primary vein.

The upper sockets of the handles incorporate stylised hibiscus motifs.

This versatile antique presentation / champagne cup retains the original hallmarked domed push fit cover reflecting the same design as the lower portion of the body.

The upper portion of the cover is encircled with a further bead decorated knop to an embossed decorated plinth surmounted with the original fine and impressive sterling silver finial depicting cupid and his bow.

This fine example of Victorian silverware is fitted to a circular ebonised wood plinth, with two vacant silver inscription bands; each band may be engraved with a personal inscription if so desired.

This cup is a substantial size and if required could be used as a wine / bottle cooler.

Date: 1867

This antique Victorian champagne cup is a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent condition.

This impressive cup has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.

The chased and embossed decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the cup, the finial and interior of the cover are all very clear; due to the location to the surface of the body of the hallmarks are slightly rubbed in keeping with age, but remain legible.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of Victorian silverware.

Height to top of finial when on plinth 51cm/20.1"

Height of cup to top of finial 44cm/17.3"

Width across handles 32.5cm/12.75"
