Description


This antique George VI sterling silver sugar bowl has a circular rounded form.


The surface of the bowl is embellished with fine and impressive bright cut engraved tied foliate and floral bud branches emanating from the lower portion of the handles.


The decoration to the body incorporates two large cartouches, one remains vacant and the other bears the contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting a heron.


The upper portion of the sugar bowl is embellished with an applied moulded border to the rim.


This antique sugar bowl is fitted with two impressive plain angular S shaped handles, ornamented to the upper portion with a plain scrolling thumbpiece and an opposing scrolling socket.


The bowl retains the original gilded interior.


Date: 1937

Condition


This antique sugar bowl is a very good gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The bright cut engraved decoration is all very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the base are all very clear.


Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique teaware.
