This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver sugar bowl has an octagonal panelled form.

The body of this antique silver sugar bowl is embellished with fine and impressive bright cut engraved gothic style arch and stylised leaf decoration flanking elevated rounded panels.

Each panel is embellished with alternating scroll and shell bordered vacant cartouches and panels depicting figural scenes on a matt background; the scenes incorporate stationary characters holding a jug, a club, a book and a staff.

The shaped upper rim of the bowl is ornamented with an impressive applied scroll border accented with a leaf design to each plain panel junction.

The flared base of the bowl is encompassed with an applied shaped border accented with vertically tiered bead motifs.

This exceptional example of antique teaware is fitted with two fine and impressive angular, shaped opposing scroll handles.

This impressive Victorian sugar bowl retains the original gilded interior.

This impressive bowl is a large, substantial size and could be used for a multitude of functions.

This antique silver sugar bowl is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The applied decoration is very sharp and the bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body are all very clear; the maker’s mark shows signs of wear in keeping with age and location.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this antique Victorian silverware.
